Three watches carried the week
What a week. Tuesday afternoon the counter crossed 20,000, and that night the promise got kept: two pulls from a drum of 20,137 names, drawn live on camera, no hoops, no entry forms, being here was the only ticket. Congratulations again to the winners. Their Seiko SRPD53s are on the way from Amba Watch NYC, the NYC Detective's shop that helped make the whole thing possible.
Six months ago this list did not exist and neither did the page as you know it. Twenty thousand followers and 150 of you on this list later, the mission has not moved an inch: real people, real work, and the watches that ride along. Here is what carried the week.
Rolex Sea Dweller
A full time SWAT operator with a Southern California sheriff's department, cross sworn with the US Marshals Service, photographed gearing up before an operation. The trunk tells the story in layers: the star of a Marshal's badge on its chain, the holstered pistol, the rifle with a magazine seated, and over it all a Rolex Sea-Dweller on the wrist, catching what light there is.
Casio MRW200h Casio dw9052 Seiko SSK059 Casio Duro Seiko SRPK99
A Marine, a combat engineer with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, laid his rotation out across the MARPAT blouse: a Casio MRW200H, a G-Shock DW9052, a Seiko SSK059 GMT, a Casio Duro, and a Seiko SRPK99, chevrons and the eagle, globe and anchor in the frame with them. Five watches, arranged like a toolbox because that is what it is.
Casio Duro
A Coast Guard veteran, now a SWAT officer, laid the Casio Duro across the dark uniform shirt beside the ribbon bar, his nameplate and the team insignia. His watch is the black and gold Duro, the working diver that costs less than a duty belt. His reason for the photo was not the watch at all. In his words: they say the only thing evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing. So I'm trying to be a good man.
