Three watches carried the week
The list grew again this week, so for the new arrivals: every Friday I send the three watches that carried the week, ranked by how far they actually traveled. No algorithm, just the numbers.
One note before the watches. I am on the road for work until Saturday, so anything ordered from the shop this week ships when I am back. Every order is packed by me, which is the whole point.
Custom
Greetings from France. An operator with a police intervention unit in the Paris area, the teams that make early-morning arrests at suspects' residences and run anti-crime patrols and surveillance the rest of the time. The watch is a custom build for the unit: a Seiko automatic under a blacked-out dive case, the unit's own insignia printed on the dial. Staged with his service pistol and a French National Police coin, it is a small piece of unit identity that goes on duty and off. The first international service watch in these files, and a fitting one. Same job, different flag.
Casio Duro
A constable with the Ontario Provincial Police, about a year on the job and into his first summer in short sleeves, photographed on regular patrol between calls and traffic enforcement. On the wrist, a green bezel Casio Duro, the fifty dollar diver that has quietly become the thinking person's beater. Short sleeves in a cruiser means the watch shows, and a Duro is a watch you never have to think twice about showing, or soaking, or scratching. First summer on patrol, first summer the watch gets to breathe.
Rolex Daytona oysterflex
A US Army Military Police soldier on deployment, photographed at the desk with the tools of the trade laid out: cuffs, the MP brassard, the rank he carries. On the wrist over the OCPs, a Rolex Daytona on Oysterflex, a chronograph on the Oysterflex in a room where everything else is issued. His one-word answer to where this watch works: deployment.
