The Unit Watch This is a custom build, not a catalog piece: a Seiko NH35 automatic movement inside a blacked-out dive case, with the unit's insignia printed at the center of the dial instead of a brand logo. Unit watches are an old tradition, squadron dials and regiment casebacks going back a century, and they almost always start from a proven, affordable base so the whole team can carry one. The NH35 is exactly that base, the workhorse automatic that half the microbrand world is built on. The result is a one-of-none the members wear on duty and off, a wrist-sized version of the patch. A French Intervention Unit The submitter is an operator with a police intervention unit in the Paris area. In his words, the mission is apprehending dangerous suspects in public and on high-risk warrants, a large share of it early-morning arrests at residences, with proactive anti-crime patrols and surveillance filling the time in between. He staged the watch with his SIG SP2022 service pistol and a French National Police challenge coin, and sent it specifically to sit alongside the American military and law enforcement watches these files usually carry. It belongs here. The uniform and the flag change; the watch on the wrist of someone who runs toward the call does not.
