How Department of Watches handles your information.

Department of Watches is a one-person operation. This policy explains what information is collected, why, and how it is handled. Questions go to orders@departmentofwatches.com.
What is collected
- Watch submissions: the photos you upload, your name, your Instagram handle, and the story you provide.
- Orders: your name, email, and shipping address, processed through Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers.
- Email list (the Dispatch): your email address, if you opt in.
- Instagram: when connected, the account's own profile, media, comments, and direct messages, used only to manage the @department_of_watches account (answering buyers and fulfilling orders). Messages are read to manage the account, not stored beyond what is needed to do that.
How it is used
To feature submitted watches with permission, to fulfill and ship orders, to send order and shipping emails, to send the Dispatch if you subscribed, and to operate the @department_of_watches account. Your information is never sold.
Who it is shared with
Only the services needed to run the site: Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Cloudflare (image storage and email routing), Render and Neon (hosting and database), and Meta/Instagram (for the account). Each handles your data under its own terms. Submitter Instagram handles are kept private and are not published.
