Stirling Upham GMT

Stirling Upham GMT

A flight nurse in the Air Force Reserve, mid workup. On the wrist, a Stirling Upham GMT. The complication is the point. In his words, the GMT allows him to know the time where his family is when he is away. He is keeping expectations modest. "I think I was doing pre-deployment stuff. Nothing major, the bigger story is down the road I would imagine." He says it may come along with his Seiko Turtle and his Sangin Kinetic GMT. Stirling Upham GMT The Upham is the GMT in the Stirling Timepieces catalog, a 42mm tool watch in 316L stainless steel with a screw down crown, a sapphire crystal and 200 meters of water resistance. The formula is the classic traveler's setup: a dedicated 24 hour hand paired with a 24 hour bezel, so a second time zone reads at a glance without any math. Stirling offers the Upham two ways. The automatic runs the Seiko NH34 GMT caliber, 24 jewels beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour with a 41 hour power reserve. The quartz version carries the Swiss Ronda 515.24H, rated within roughly 10 to 20 seconds per month. A GMT hand exists for exactly one reason, to keep you connected to a place you are not. On this wrist it is set to wherever family is, which is the best use anyone has ever found for it.
