Casio G Shock DW9052
A Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1/5 at Twentynine Palms in 2023, deep in the predeployment workup for the 15th MEU, holding up the Corps' unofficial standard answer to timekeeping: a Casio G-Shock DW9052. The display reads Saturday, 1815, under camouflage netting with the gun line staged behind it. Yuma done, the Combat Center underway, the MEU itself the following year. He found this account and went digging through the archive for this frame, which is exactly the kind of dig this office endorses. Casio G-Shock DW9052
The DW9052 is the entry point to the G-Shock catalog and has been for over two decades: shock resistant module, 200 meters of water resistance, stopwatch, alarm, countdown timer, and a price around fifty dollars that makes it effectively disposable while refusing to actually break. It is the watch that shows up in every barracks, every armory, and every workup, bought because it is cheap and kept because it will not quit.
BLT 1/5, 15th MEU Workup, 2023
The submitter was with Battalion Landing Team 1/5, the ground combat element that deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2024. The photo comes from the 2023 workup at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, taken after completing Realistic Urban Training in Yuma, with camo netting overhead and weapons staged behind the watch. Predeployment training is repetition until the repetition disappears, and a G-Shock keeps the only schedule that matters: the next event.
