A Marine combat engineer who swept and helped disable IEDs in Sangin and Musa Qala in 2010, some of the hardest ground of the war, with 1st CEB, 3/5, and 1/8. Today he does computer forensics for Homeland Security Investigations, working out of the Texas Anti-Gang Center in Lubbock, photographed before heading out to serve a search warrant. The watch is a Sangin, named for the valley he fought in. For most people that name is a brand. For him it is a place he will never forget. Sangin Instruments DLC Pacifico
Sangin Instruments is a veteran-founded American brand named after the Sangin Valley in Afghanistan's Helmand Province. We have featured the name before, but rarely on the wrist of someone who was actually there. This owner swept for and helped disable IEDs in Sangin and Musa Qala in 2010 with the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, attached to 3/5 and 1/8, through some of the bloodiest fighting Marines saw in the entire war.
The Pacifico is the brand's dive watch, here in a blacked out DLC case with a blue dial, a tool built to the standard the company's name demands. He carries it now in a second career, doing computer forensics for Homeland Security Investigations out of the Texas Anti-Gang Center in Lubbock. The photo was taken on the way out the door to serve a search warrant. A watch named for the worst place he has been, worn into the next fight.
