Commercial vehicle enforcement with the State Patrol, working the I-35 corridor out of Duluth. The job is trucks: weights, brakes, logbooks, and the judgment calls that keep eighty thousand pounds of freight from becoming a headline. On the wrist beside the mounted Toughbook is a Resco UDT, blacked out on black nylon, a diver built in Coronado by a company a Navy SEAL founded and named for the Underwater Demolition Teams that came before the Teams. Resco Instruments UDT
Resco builds watches in Coronado, California, a few minutes from the naval special warfare commands whose operators made the brand a quiet institution; the founder is a Navy SEAL, and the watches have spread wrist to wrist through that community rather than through marketing. The UDT model carries the name of the Underwater Demolition Teams, the World War II combat swimmers whose lineage runs directly into today’s SEAL teams. This example wears the all black configuration, case, dial, and nylon alike, with a blue seconds hand and matching blue logo as the only concessions to color.
I-35 Corridor, Duluth
The submitter runs commercial vehicle enforcement for the State Patrol along Interstate 35 out of Duluth, the corridor that hauls freight between the port and the rest of the country. The photo is the office: a patrol cab, a mounted Toughbook, a fist resting below the keyboard between inspections. Commercial enforcement rarely makes the news, and that is rather the point; the saves happen at the scale house and the roadside, one out of service order at a time.
