Citizen Weekender Garrison - Eco Drive
Conventional Army, tactical intelligence, an E-4 living out of a duffel and hopping bases across Iraq in 2022 to train up sister units. The watch is a Citizen Garrison, an Eco-Drive field watch that runs on light and never needs a battery, the right tool for a soldier who is never in one place long. Here it sits in his patrol cap with his dog tags, the way a pocket dump looks in a transient tent. Not every war story is the tip of the spear. Most of the work is done by people like this. Citizen Weekender Garrison BM8180-03E
The Garrison is one of the great affordable field watches, a cult favorite for exactly the kind of service shown here. It runs Citizen's Eco-Drive, which charges from any light and never needs a battery, holding up to 180 days of reserve on a full charge. The 37mm stainless case is rated to 100 meters, with a black Arabic-numeral dial, luminous hands, and a day-date at 3, on a simple olive nylon strap. It is built to be worn and forgotten, the opposite of a watch you baby.
Living out of a duffel
The submitter served in conventional Army tactical intelligence with a FORSCOM unit, deployed to Iraq around 2022 during a lull in the fighting. As an E-4 he base-hopped across the country, living out of a duffel and training up troops in sister units, and this was his workhorse the whole time. The photo is a pocket dump in his patrol cap, watch and dog tags together, the way kit gets set down in a transient tent for a few nights before the next move. A watch that runs on light, for a soldier who never stopped moving.
