Casio A168WA-1 The A168 is the retro Casio that never had to come back, because it never left. Its square case and steel bracelet carry the design language of Casio's late 1980s digital line, and its signature trick is written right on the dial: Illuminator. Where its close cousin the A158 made do with a simple light, the A168 earned its 1990s popularity with an electro luminescent backlight that floods the whole display in even blue green light. The rest of the spec sheet is quiet competence. A 1/100 second stopwatch, daily alarm, hourly signal and auto calendar, all run off a CR2016 battery that lasts around seven years. Fifty grams on the wrist, and a price that has stayed within reach of anyone with a paycheck. Millions of people have timed something that mattered on a little Casio digital. This morning it was future Marines, learning what the clock thinks of them.
