Seiko SSK023
A firefighter and EMT in a beach town on the North Carolina coast, photographed in the back of the engine, enroute to a working structure fire. Helmet racked overhead, axe in its bracket, and a blacked-out Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT on the wrist over the sweater cuff. Somewhere ahead there is smoke showing. This is the quiet minute before the work. If you have a wrist shot from somewhere that matters, submit at the link in bio. Tempus Est Potentia.

Seiko 5 Sports Field GMT SSK023
The SSK023 is the field watch expression of Seiko's budget GMT breakthrough: the 4R34 automatic caliber that brought a true independent 24 hour hand down to an accessible price. Where its SSK dive-style siblings wear rotating bezels, the field version runs a fixed 24 hour ring around a black Arabic numeral dial, military-style, on a fabric strap. Day, date, second time zone, and a case that disappears under a jacket cuff until it is needed.
The Call
The submitter is a firefighter and EMT serving a beach town on North Carolina's coast, photographed riding the engine to a reported working structure fire. The back of an engine on the way to a job is its own kind of room: tools bracketed where hands expect them, helmets overhead, everyone listening to the radio paint the scene they have not seen yet. In a beach town the same crew that pulls hose in the morning might be working a surf rescue by afternoon. The watch rides along for all of it.
