Seiko SRPD63 & Seiko GMT Master 2 mod
Back out with the same Contingency Response Squadron, on small unit tactics training with the younger troops. Two Seikos made the trip, an SRPD63 and a GMT Master 2 mod. Seiko SRPD63 and the mod question
When Seiko retired the beloved SKX line in 2019, it poured that case architecture into the new Seiko 5 Sports collection. The SRPD63 is one of those descendants, a 42.5mm stainless steel sports watch on the SKX pattern, running Seiko's 4R36 automatic, a 24 jewel movement with hacking, hand winding, day and date, and roughly 41 hours of power reserve.
The second watch in this submission is the other side of the same coin. Seiko's shared case designs and enormous parts supply made the brand the default platform of the watch modding community, where builders swap dials, bezels, and hands to make something personal, including tributes styled after far more expensive GMTs. Purists argue about it. Meanwhile the watches get built, get worn, and collect stories.
Both ends of the Seiko spectrum, factory and homebuilt, went out for small unit tactics training. That may be the most Seiko outcome possible.
