Rolex Submariner 124060
A Firearms and Tactics Instructor in the NYPD, on a foot post in the 75 Precinct while on Mobile Field Force. He will be the first to tell you it sounds cooler than it is. In his words, basically violence reduction posts in the zones where more of the bad stuff happens. The Sub is his go to watch every time he gets sent out in the field, whether that is a Mobile Field Force post or a major detail or a parade. A Rolex Submariner 124060. Rolex Submariner 124060
The Submariner has been the reference point for every dive watch since 1953, when Rolex built one of the first watches rated to 100 meters and accidentally created the most imitated design in horology. The 124060 is the purest current expression of it, the no-date version, introduced in 2020 with a 41mm Oystersteel case, a Cerachrom ceramic bezel, and a dial with nothing on it that does not need to be there.
Inside is the calibre 3230, with Rolex's Chronergy escapement for efficiency and a blue Parachrom hairspring that shrugs off magnetic fields. Seventy hours of power reserve means it runs through a whole weekend off the wrist. Water resistance is 300 meters, roughly 299 more than a Brooklyn foot post requires.
Collectors argue the no-date Sub is the honest one, symmetrical, uncluttered, all business. On a violence reduction post in the 75, all business is the correct configuration.
