Casio Duro, Modified
The Duro is watch enthusiasm's worst kept secret: a genuine 200 meter dive watch that sells for about fifty dollars. Screw down crown, rotating bezel, a movement that keeps better time than watches costing fifty times more.
Modding is the second half of this story. Because the Duro costs so little and fits standard parts, it has become the community's favorite blank canvas: new hands, new bezel inserts, new dials, built at the kitchen table.
A modified Duro is the opposite of a status watch. Nobody else has one like it, and the person wearing it made it that way on purpose.
